A medical team at the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announced its success in treating a patient in his seventies, who has been suffering for more than ten years from benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The interventional radiologist at the hospital, Dr. Ali Mohamad Jaleel, said: “Our medical team has succeeded in treating a 72-year-old man suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia,” indicating: “The treatment method was performed without surgical intervention and using catheters, through a micro-puncture of no more than 2 mm in the femoral artery."
Dr. Jaleel added: "The use of therapeutic catheters - prostate catheter - in the treatment of benign enlargement of the prostate gland is by injecting small medical pellets to block the arteries feeding the enlarged part of the prostate gland, which helps the atrophy of this enlargement and the decline of disease symptoms."
