Al-Ameed University launches the events of the first University Day forum for its students
Al-Ameed University launched its first "University Day" forum for students—marking the start of the 2026–2027 academic year—at the Imam Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall.
The event was attended by Dr. Afdal Al-Shami, a member of the Board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; University President Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jash'ami; as well as college deans, faculty members, staff, and students.
Proceedings began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and the anthem of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine ("Pride's Melody"). Attendees then recited Surah Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs. This was followed by an educational and guidance lecture delivered by His Eminence Sayed Muhammad Hussein Al-Amidi—a scholar from the Hawza (Islamic Seminary) in Najaf—who highlighted the virtue of knowledge and the importance of pursuing learning, while urging students to persevere in their academic journey.
The program included an address by University President Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jash'ami, who welcomed the students to the new academic year. He emphasized that this day marks the beginning of a new chapter of challenge and achievement, serving as a significant milestone for acquiring knowledge and refining the soul.
Dr. Al-Jash'ami stated, "This day is not merely a date on the academic calendar; rather, it heralds the start of a new chapter of challenge and achievement, and serves as a noble opportunity to acquire knowledge and refine the soul."
He added, "A university is not simply a collection of walls or halls for lectures and exams; it is an educational and cultural environment where minds are shaped and conscious, leadership-oriented personalities are built." He emphasized that "belonging to the university is not measured merely by holding a student ID card; rather, it is embodied in a deep commitment to its academic reputation, the safeguarding of its assets, pride in its name, and tireless effort to uphold its standing in scientific and research forums."
The forum also featured a dialogue session between the university council and the students, aimed at listening to their views and suggestions regarding the educational process, discussing the challenges they face, and working to find appropriate solutions and overcome obstacles. Additionally, a film showcasing highlights from the previous edition of the forum was screened.
The inaugural "University Day" forum aims to welcome students, encourage them to embark on a productive academic year filled with success and innovation, and foster direct communication between them and the university.
The event concluded with a cultural competition involving the students and the distribution of prizes to those who provided correct answers, marking the start of the new academic year.
