Families of the Badush Prison massacre martyrs praise the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and its role in following up on the case of their loved ones

Families of the martyrs of the Badush Prison massacre have praised the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and its role in following up on the cases of their loved ones.

The Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes—affiliated with the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Holy Shrine—undertook the funeral and burial arrangements for the victims. This initiative was carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Forensic Medicine and the Department for the Protection of Mass Graves and Missing Persons, as part of efforts to preserve national memory and document the crimes committed against the victims.

Mr. Mohammed Khammas, father of one of the martyrs, said: "We deeply appreciate the initiative of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and its commitment to honoring the remains of our sons and conducting their funeral and burial ceremonies; this step represents a significant humanitarian gesture toward the martyrs and their families."

For his part, Mr. Qasim Al-Tamimi, brother of one of the martyrs, stated: "Words of thanks and appreciation are insufficient to convey our gratitude to the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine for its contribution to finalizing the procedures for identifying and burying our sons' remains." He emphasized that these efforts alleviated the suffering of families who had waited years to learn the fate of their loved ones.

The ceremonies included a Ziyarat to the shrine of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and a mourning gathering held for the souls of the martyrs to commemorate their ordeal and offer solace to their families after years of waiting. The martyrs' remains were laid to rest at the Rawdat Al-Kafeel Cemetery in the Holy Governorate of Najaf.
