In Nigeria, the Intellectual Affairs Department commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her)

The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine held a mourning ceremony in the Republic of Nigeria to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her).

Sayed Muslim al-Jabiri, head of the Religious Preaching Unit at the department’s African Studies Center, stated that the center is committed to observing religious occasions associated with the Noble Prophet Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) and his Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). This is achieved by organizing mourning and remembrance gatherings, as well as disseminating religious knowledge that sheds light on their biographies and the stances they took.

He added that the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her) is a significant occasion that the center prioritizes, given the profound spiritual significance and human values it embodies, as well as the lessons of sacrifice and steadfastness in one’s principles that her life represents.

Al-Jabiri explained that the ceremony took place at the Al-Salman al-Muhammadi School—an institution affiliated with the center—where Sheikh Hashim Yusuf Gharba Badko delivered a lecture focusing on the final moments of Lady Fatima az-Zahra’s (peace be upon her) life and the enduring legacy she left within the annals of Islamic history.

This gathering is part of a series of outreach programs conducted by the African Studies Center across the continent. These initiatives aim to commemorate the occasions of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), introduce their biographies, and instill their values and principles—all as an extension of the center’s ongoing religious, cultural, and humanitarian efforts within African societies.
