The first day of the "Al-Kafeel Girls" graduation ceremony features a performance of the play "Free by My Own Choice.”
The first day of the central graduation ceremony for female university students from Iraq and several Islamic nations—held at the Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) Complex—featured a theatrical performance titled "Free by My Own Choice."
The ceremony is organized by the Al-Kafeel Women’s Religious Schools Division, under the Office of the Senior Official for Women’s Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine. Held under the theme "From the Light of Fatima (peace be upon her), We Illuminate the World," the event includes 6,450 female students from various Iraqi provinces and several Islamic countries.
The play tells the story of a young woman who applies for a position at an institution. Despite possessing the necessary qualifications and competence, she is presented with a condition for employment: she must remove her hijab and *abaya*. She chooses to reject this demand, remaining steadfast in her commitment to her hijab, even though she is in need of the job.
The performance highlights the significance of the hijab in the life of a Muslim woman and explores how she navigates challenges that test her adherence to religious values. It underscores that the pursuit of knowledge and professional success is not in conflict with maintaining one’s hijab and Islamic identity.
