The Intellectual Affairs Department discusses with a delegation from the Martyrs Foundation a number of issues related to processing the transactions of martyr families and serving them
The Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine discussed with a delegation from the Martyrs Foundation several issues related to following up on the rights of the families of martyrs.
This came during a meeting hosted by the Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes, affiliated with the department, attended by the center's head, Dr. Abbas Al-Quraishi, the head of the Badush Victims Compensation Committee at the Martyrs Foundation, Dr. Kifah Haidar, the official in charge of the Badush and Speicher massacres file, Mr. Saad Raad, along with the directors of the secretariats of the subcommittees in all provinces of Iraq.
Al-Quraishi said: The meeting was dedicated to discussing the issue of following up on the rights of the families of the victims of the Badush prison massacre, explaining that the terrorist organization ISIS had killed about 670 inmates of the prison, which left complex files for the families of the victims, requiring administrative and detailed follow-ups to complete their transactions.
He added that there are a number of transactions for the victims' families that have not been completed yet, despite the years that have passed since the start of delivering the victims' remains, pointing out that the law stipulates that transactions should be completed within a period of 60 days.
Al-Quraishi explained that the meeting addressed the main challenges and details related to the file, with the aim of identifying the reasons behind the delays in processing transactions. He confirmed that this step was taken in response to the demands of the martyrs' families, and an agreement was reached to adopt a new working mechanism that aligns with the spirit of the law and its humanitarian dimensions.
For his part, Dr. Kifah Haidar, head of the Badush Prison Victims Compensation Committee at the Martyrs Foundation, mentioned that the meeting discussed ways to expedite the processing of transactions for the families of Badush Prison victims, in cooperation between the Martyrs Foundation and the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, represented by the Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes.
Kifah praised the role played by the center in supporting the work of the Martyrs Foundation, particularly in documenting and compensating the victims of crimes committed against Iraqis in various eras, affirming that the meeting represents a preliminary step toward forming a committee dedicated to expediting the procedures for the victims' cases.
The efforts come within the framework of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine's commitment, through the Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes, to document the crimes suffered by the Iraqi people, contribute to monitoring the rights of victims and their families, and support the relevant institutions in fulfilling their responsibilities toward this segment, preserving the sacrifices of the martyrs and safeguarding the rights of their families.
