The Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine participates in the opening of the Askariyayn Holy Shrine Museum in the city of Samarra

The Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed. Mustafa Murtada Aal Dia-Uddin, and his accompanying delegation participated in the inauguration of the Askariyayn Holy Shrine Museum in the city of Samarra.

Sayed. Aal Dia-Uddin said, "The opening of the Askariyayn Holy Shrine Museum represents a historical event, given its importance in preserving the gifts, artifacts, and possessions that have been presented to the holy shrine since ancient times, in addition to documenting an important aspect of its history."

He added that "the museum also recalls the events that the Askariyayn Holy Shrine has gone through, including the bombing incident that occurred during a dark period in Iraq's history, and the significant efforts that accompanied it to restore the bright image of this sacred place."

The Secretary-General pointed out that "the dedicated hands working at the Askariyayn Holy Shrine, represented by the Secretary-General, the board members, his deputy, and the heads of departments, have made diligent and precise efforts to complete this project and present its contents in a way that preserves its history and presents it to future generations," praying to God Almighty to grant success and guidance to those in charge of managing the Askariyayn Holy Shrine.

For his part, the assistant head of the Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts, affiliated with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, Dr. Shawqi Al-Moussawi, explained that "the importance of museums lies in preserving and reviving heritage, safeguarding the memory of peoples from loss, and cementing their cultural and civilizational identity," indicating that "the Kafeel Museum has contributed with its specialized staff in establishing several museums for cultural and scientific institutions."

He added that "the cooperation between the two holy shrines, Al-Askariyayn and Al-Abbas, peace be upon them, came within the framework of a memorandum of understanding that laid the foundations for cooperation and contribution to establishing a comprehensive museum that adheres to scientific and museum standards," pointing out that "the first stages of cooperation involved training staff from the Askariyayn holy shrine by experts from the Al-Kafeel Museum and their qualification, within an intensive training program that included both theoretical and practical aspects in several fields of museum work, including documentation, archiving, restoration, storage, museum display, and media promotion."

Al-Moussawi explained that "the work then moved to the stage of maintaining the museum artifacts stored in the Askariyayn holy shrine, verifying and updating their information and definitions, in addition to creating more than 50 museum display cases supervised by the Al-Kafeel Museum in their design and installation."

He confirmed that "what is being witnessed today does not merely represent the opening of an exhibition space, but rather it is the result of a comprehensive museum project, worked on by specialized teams according to scientific and artistic principles aimed at preserving the artifacts and highlighting their historical and civilizational value."

The efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine come within the framework of supporting the museums of the holy shrines, exchanging museum experiences and practices, which contributes to the preservation and maintenance of heritage artifacts, developing their display methods, and conveying their historical and cultural significance to future generations.
