University of Karbala: The agricultural projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine employ modern technologies to enhance sustainability and economic feasibility

The Dean of the College of Agriculture at Karbala University, Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein Al-Rubaie, confirmed that the agricultural projects implemented by the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine employ modern technologies to enhance sustainability and economic feasibility.

Al-Rubaie said: "It is gratifying to see the use of modern technologies in the agricultural projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, especially in the fields of irrigation, energy, and soil management, particularly in light of the water crisis we are experiencing. The use of these technologies has become essential to preserve water reserves and rationalize their consumption, in addition to enhancing sustainability through the optimal use of available resources."

He added that "the use of solar energy contributes to reducing environmental pollution, especially since generating energy from fuel requires large quantities of it, which results in high economic costs," explaining that "the correct use of these technologies and auxiliary factors in agricultural production contributes to achieving economic feasibility and increasing production."

The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine is keen on developing its agricultural projects and investing in land using modern methods and techniques, to contribute to increasing agricultural production, expanding green spaces, and facing the challenges of desertification and drought, in addition to providing job opportunities and supporting the local economy.
