If a person wants to pay blood money (diyah) to the victim for an injury less than killing—such as striking that causes redness or bruising of the face—and he wishes to convert the Islamic dinar into its value in gold: should he pay the diyah according to the price of gold at the time the injury occurred or at the time of paying the diyah?

In the name of Allah, know, my son, that diyah in gold is determined by weight, not by market value, and the specified weight of gold constitutes the diyah. Since gold and silver currency is not commonly available nowadays, he should pay the value of the diyah based on the gold price at the time of payment. Allah knows best.
