Must the prostration of forgetfulness (Sujūd al-Sahw) be performed before or after the three Takbīrs at the end of the prayer? Does the worshipper still need to recite these three Takbīrs after the taslīm if he intends to perform Sujūd al-Sahw? Must the worshipper recite tashahhud and give taslīm after Sujūd al-Sahw?
Answer
In the name of Allah, it is better to perform it (Sujūd al-Sahw) before the three Takbīrs. It is necessary in Sujūd al-Sahw to recite the obligatory tashahhud and taslīm, which according to my view is the second formula: “Al-salāmu ʿalaynā wa ʿalā ʿibādillāh al-ṣāliḥīn.” Allah knows best.
