His Eminence (may Allah prolong his life) has issued a fatwa stating that it is recommended to wear black in the months of Muharram and Safar, as they are months of grief over the misfortunes of Ahlulbait (PBUT). Is this ruling applicable to the first eight days of the month of Rabiul Awwal as it was narrated about the Commander of the Faithful (PBUH) that one of the names of the ninth day of Rabiul Awwal is the day of removing blackness? So, can we benefit from this narration that it is desirable to wear black from the beginning of Muharram until the eighth day of Rabiul Awwal and on the ninth day it is removed?
Answer
in the name of Allah, the narration is clear and it is as you understood, my son. We have been ordered to show grief on Ahlulbait (PBUT) as much as we can and wearing black is one of its manifestation. Allah knows best.
