There is a mosque in the vicinity where we live. The people there held mourning sessions and latmiyas (someone recites and the people beat their chests with hands) for three days: from the day of injuring the Imam (PBUH) to the day of martyrdom after dawn prayers. These sessions are broadcasted via the outer speakers and the people in the surrounding started complaining about this thing. Do those people have the right to object or they have to bear this noise as a respect to the session?
Answer
In the name of Allah, there is no doubt that holding preaching sessions on the infallible imams (PBUH) is needed and considered as commemorating religious rituals. However, as in the question, the speakers should be directed to the participants so that the sound will not reach the non-participants in the surrounding, especially if it annoys the residents of the vicinity of the mosque. Allah knows best.
