If a person intended to perform a specific prayer, like noon prayer for example, but due to distraction or doubt, they started another prayer within it, such as afternoon prayer (Asr), then they recited the Takbir al-Ihram (opening Allahu Akbar) while in this state, and then they turned back, is it sufficient to maintain their initial intention and what they had in mind to be noon prayer? Or is their prayer invalid, and should they repeat the Takbir and correct their intention for noon prayer again?
Answer
In the name of Allah, in the situation described, the person should change their intention to perform the noon prayer and, after completing it, they should resume with the afternoon (Asr) prayer. Allah knows best.
