I learned in general that the prayer beads in my hand were taken either from the mosque where I pray or from the prayer area at my workplace. Now, I want to return the prayer beads because they are endowed, but I am unsure as to which of the two they belong. However, I have general knowledge that they are from one of them?
Answer
In the name of Allah, you should consult the supervisor of the mosque who manages its affairs and keeps track of its belongings. Perhaps they can determine if the prayer beads belong to the mosque or not. If you cannot do that, then return to your workplace and ask your colleagues. If you are unable to determine the status of the prayer beads, you should consider them as endowed to the mosque that may be their rightful owner. Purchase a similar set of prayer beads and keep it at your workplace among your colleagues. However, it is not permissible for you to use them for yourself. Allah knows best.
