Can we say that Satan did not disobey Allah by refusing to prostrate due to the apparent meaning of the verse "And [mention] when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate'" even though it is known that Satan is not one of the angels but from the jinn?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Quranic verses are explicit that the command to prostrate was inclusive of Satan. This is evident in Allah's statement addressing the accursed Satan, and may Allah protect us from his evil, by Imam Hussein (PBUH), "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" Satan did not apologize by saying that he was not commanded; instead, he objected due to his corrupt belief that he was superior to Adam and considered Allah's command to prostrate to Adam as something inappropriate. Allah is the Guide.
