My son is 15 months old, and his problem is that he only eats chocolate. I have tried using medications, but he refuses to eat anything else. I kindly ask you to suggest a surah, verse, or supplication for him.

Answer

In the name of Allah, vow something within your means to ʿAbdullah al-Radheeʿ (the infant martyr of Karbala), and likewise to al-Muhsin, the miscarried grandson of the Prophet (peace be upon him), according to your financial capacity. Once your need is fulfilled, spend the vowed amount on a needy Shia orphan. If you cannot find one, send it to us so we may serve the believing orphans. Also, recite 100 verses from the Qur’an daily—from any part of it—and after finishing the recitation, say: "O Allah, I ask You by Your Greatest, Most Exalted, Most Glorious, Most Honorable Name—O Allah" (repeat this seven times), then send blessings upon the Prophet and his family, and make your supplication and request from Allah. Your need will be granted, Allah willing. Allah is the Granter of success.

Q&ASome of the respected brothers (may Allah protect them) recite Du‘a Kumayl, Du‘a al-Nudbah, Ziyarat ‘Ashura,…

Some of the respected brothers (may Allah protect them) recite Du‘a Kumayl, Du‘a al-Nudbah, Ziyarat ‘Ashura, and other supplications and devotional texts. However, during the recitation, they sometimes alter certain words such as changing singular forms to plural or they insert one supplication into another, or they interject poetry or lines of lamentation for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in the middle of the supplication or visitation. What is the ruling of the sacred law on this?

Answer

In the name of Allah, changing the format of the supplication from singular to plural is an alteration of the original text and is not permissible. If there are others listening to the supplication and participating with the reciter, then the reciter should read slowly and calmly so that the listeners can follow. Alternatively, the reciter may intend the supplication for himself and on behalf of others—meaning he is reciting it primarily for himself and secondarily on behalf of others. But in all cases, altering the original text must be avoided. As for inserting lamentations or poetry about the tragedies of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) within the supplication, this fragments the supplication and disrupts its continuity and unity. The supplication should be preserved in its sequential and unified form. Separating its parts undermines its coherence. If the reciter seeks to evoke emotion in the hearts, then it is better for him to recite poetry about the tragedies before beginning the supplication. Allah is the Guide.

Q&AMy husband is deceased and I am alone with four children. I ask you to pray for my daughter's marriage?

My husband is deceased and I am alone with four children. I ask you to pray for my daughter's marriage?

Answer

In the name of Allah, she will be included in the prayers of His Eminence the Marja' (may Allah prolong his life). Those seeking marriage should frequently recite verse 29 of Surah Fatir and make a vow (Nazr) to the martyrs aborted Muhsin and infant Abdullah according to their financial ability. Once the vow is fulfilled, it should be spent on the orphans of the poor Shia of Ahlulbait (PBUT). Allah grants success and He is the Guide.

Q&ADoes the soul return to the deceased when they experience pleasure or suffering in the grave?

Does the soul return to the deceased when they experience pleasure or suffering in the grave?

Answer

In the name of Allah, be informed, my son, that when the soul departs from the physical body, Allah places it in the barzakh body which is similar to the physical body in shape and form, but with a significant difference in reality. The accountability in the grave is based on that barzakh body, and on the Day of Judgment, the soul will be returned to the physical body. Allah knows best.

Q&AWhat is the origin and source of (call Ali) "Nadi Aliyan" and Hadith Al-Kisa?

What is the origin and source of (call Ali) "Nadi Aliyan" and Hadith Al-Kisa?

Answer

In the name of Allah, the scholars consider the authenticity of these sayings to be attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF). As for calling upon Ali ibn Abi Talib for support, as it is known in " Nadi Aliyan mudhir alaja'ib" (a supplication that begins with "Call Ali, the manifestation of wonders..."), with the intention of seeking intercession from him, there is no objection to it according to Islamic law, but it is the essence of Shia belief. As for the origin of Hadith Al-Kisa, it is proved and there should be no doubt about it. There are numerous narrations on this matter, both from general and specific sources. As for reciting the hadith in the usual manner, there is no issue with reciting it with the intention of seeking blessings. There is a chain of narration from Jabir in the commonly accepted format in some reputable books, such as the book "Awalim al-'Ulum wa al-Ma'arif wa al-Ahwal" by the scholar Sheikh Abdullah al-Bahrani al-Asfahani. Allah is the Guide, and He is the All-Knowing.

We are looking for the authentic hadith regarding the hadith of Ahlulkissa (people of the garment) because there is a discussion with a friend about the wording of this hadith. I hope that you will send a series of narrations for this hadith to prove the truth.

Answer

In the name of Allah, this hadith of Ahlulkissa is authentic, and there is no doubt about it. There are many narrations in this regard by the public and the knowledgeable ones. Additionally, there is a chain of transmission on the authority of Jaber as known in some well-regarded books, such as the book “Awalim Aluloom wal Maarif” [The Worlds of Science, Knowledge, and Conditions] by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bahrani Al-Esfahani. As for the paragraphs that were mentioned, it is not intended what illusions may lead to; rather, it is apparent – Allah knows best - that the Prophet (PBUH&HF) and his pure family (PBUT) are the leaders of creation and the rulers of the world. It is upon the people and the jinn to draw closer to Allah (glory be to Him) by obeying, benefitting from Him. Allah is the all Guide.

We often hear or people circulate that every new thing we buy is disliked, especially at the month of Muharram. This is a matter of respect to Imam Hussein’s (PBUH) Tragedy. Regarding construction, is it permissible to build a new house during the months of Muharram and/or Safar?

Answer

In the name of Allah, there is no objection per se; however, one may keep away from any joyful activities on the first ten days of Muharram. It is known to the righteous to recite Suratul Jumaa (Friday), do the Juma Ghusl as well as the prayer which is attributed to Lady Fatima (PBUH). Be advised that such honored prayer be performed in two ways, it is better to offer it in both ways on Friday. I pray Allah to take all bad luck from you, my son. It is recommended to make a banquet and feed the believers after finishing the house. Allah knows best.

What is your opinion in terms of the authentication of Hadethul Kissa? Is it right that it is not mentioned in the way that we read in the well-authenticated books? Some say that there is a problem in the following quote: I have created a constructed heaven and rounded earth only for you and your love.

Answer

In the name of Allah, the origin of Hadeethul Kissa is well-authenticated. There is no need to question it, and there are many narrations by the Sunni and Shiite followers in this regard. As for reciting the Hadeeth in the common way, there is no problem in reciting it under the intention of invocation. This is authenticated by Jabir in the well-known books as Awalim Al-Uloom wal Maarif wal Ahwal by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bbahrani Al-Isfahani and others. As for the text that you have mentioned, it doesn’t mean what thepeople have imagined or understood, but it means that – Allah knows- the prophet and his infallible family members (PBUH) are the masters of the creatures and rulers of the world, human and jinn should get closer to Allah through obeying the prophet and his infallible family members (PBUH). The one who does not do so will be the one who is ignorant and negligent. Allah knows best.

What is the degree of authentication of the following text in the book “Al-Namariq Al-Fakhirah” by Sayed Al-Khateeb, Muhammad Salih Ibin Sayed Al-Musawi Al-Jazaery: the prophet (PBUH&HF) said: “the one who has missed prayers in his life and has not counted them may pray at the night of the last Friday in Ramadan” and “he who prays this prayer and recites this supplication will have the atonement of four hundred years. Then, Ali (PBUH) said: “Four hundred years!!!!?” The prophet (PBUH) said: “it is atonement for a thousand years”. They said: “oh, the messenger of Allah, normal people live 60-70 years. What about the rest of the thousand years? He (PBUH&HF) said: “they will go to his parents, wives, sons and all his relatives all around the world. The prayer is as follows: four Rakat with one tashahud. In each raka, the chapter of Fatiha and the chapter Al-Qadr 15 times and the chapter of Al-Kawthar 15 times. The intention is to offer these four rakat as a compensation for the prayers that I have missed before. After finishing the prayer, one can say “Peace be upon the messenger and his family” 100 times. Then, you may use this supplication: [allahuma yaman la tanfaaka taati wala tadhuraka masiati taqabal mala yanfaaka waighfir li mala yadhuraka yaman itha waada wafa wa itha tawaada tajawaja wa afa ighfir li abdun dhalama nafsuh. Answer

In the name of Allah, be advised, my son, that this narration is not well authenticated. It should be known that the one who missed any of the obligatory prayers will have three things in his charge: the first is the prayers which are missed, the second the sins which have been committed due to quitting the prayer, and the third is Allah’s right which means the submission to Allah and being a slave through doing the obligatory deeds. The prayer mentioned in the narration is atonement on behalf of the others which Allah grants the slave with because the slave returns to obey Allah, stops disobeying and resorts to Allah’s mercy. However, the slave still has the missed prayers in his charge, there is no way out. We seek Allah’s help, forgiveness and avoidance his disobedience. Allah knows best.

Abdullah Ibin Sinan said that Abu Abdullah (PBUH) said: you have suspicions and you will not find the knowledge or the guiding leader “Imam”. No one will survive except those who recite the supplication of the drowning (Al-Ghareeq). I said “how is the supplication of the drowning?” He said: “you say: oh Allah, oh merciful, oh compassionate, oh the one who can change the minds, keep me on your religion. I said: “oh the one who can change minds and sight keep me on your religion.” He (PBUH) said: “Allah is the one who changes the minds and sights. However, you say like I say: oh the one who can change the minds, keep me on your religion” The question is: does the drowning supplication include the word “sights” or not?

Answer

A. In the name of Allah: as in the question, the supplication does not include the word “sights”. It seems that Ibin Sinan felt what is revealed by the holy Quran in terms of interpreting the greatness of Allah and His power and control on humans, especially on the Day of Judgment, as mentioned in the holy verse: “they fear the day on which hearts and sights”. The Imam (PBUH) was not explaining Allah’s greatness and mighty, but he intended to teach that believer regarding faith and holding fast on faith. Additionally, you should commit to the words of the supplication that is narrated about the Imams (PBUH) because each word is full of implications which has an occasion and effect. We are ignorant of most of these implications. We do not know how to be righteous slaves to Allah, but we seek Allah’s mercy through the supplications. Only the infallible Imam (PBUH) knows that. Allah is the All-Knowing and Guiding.

It is narrated in Al-Kisaa Hadeeth that when Imam Hassan (PBUH) entered into the Kisaa (small tent), he (PBUH) found that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH &HF) and his brother Imam Hussein (PBUH) and said: “Peace be upon you my grandfather the Messenger of Allah”. Why didn’t he say: Peace be upon you both?

In the Name of Allah, be advised, my son, that the holy text is Al-Hassan had already entered before Al-Hussein and the prophet was alone under the Kisaa. Then, the one who enters to a group of people is allowed to greet the best one of them. Therefore, however he greets, his greeting is enough. Allah knows the best.

Is it permissible to invocate to the infallible Imams (PBUH) directly, for example oh Ali provide me with sustenance or with intercession and the like, things which are considered as Wilaya Takwinia (absolute divine domination) in a way that they provide sustenance heal people through what Allah grants them with, taking into account that their divine domination is not independent from Allah’s?

Answer

In the name of Allah, be advised, my son, that Allah reiterates in the holy Quran that there is no provider or healer but Allah. When you seek things from other than Allah, do you mean that Allah has dispensed with his power and transferred it to the Infallible Imams (PBUH)? This is Kufr (blasphemy) according to the Holy Quran. If you say that the infallibles (PBUH) made a coup, it is also rejected because it is a blasphemy. If you say that Allah charges the Infallibles (PBUH) to heal or provide people with sustenance, this means that Allah makes the infallibles (PBUH) servers to the Muslims, a matter which is incorrect, for Allah charges the angels to serve the believers. The correct thing is that the infallibles (PBUH) are our intercessors. Otherwise, if we attain your argument, the infallibles (PBUH) would have decided what is in the wombs of our mothers. Be advised that we should obey the Infallible Imams (PBUH) in that they are the successors of Allah on earth. They may do miraculous things such those related to this world such as taking the earth movement backward in the orbit of the sun and dividing the moon into parts. Such miracles are done only when Allah permits the infallible Imam (PBUH) or they might pray Allah to do so. Allah is the All Guide.

. I have read a fatwa to His Eminence Sheikh Basheer Hussein Al-Najafy (may Allah prolog his life) as an answer to an obsessing person that he should consult the holy Quran and the book of Tuhfah Radhwia. I have bought the book which is full of supplications and Quranic verses. Can you guide me to a topic through which I can find a remedy to the malignant obsession because I really can’t help it?

Answer

In the name of Allah, be advised, my son, that obsession results from two aspects: the first one is that it is the result of the human’s weakness of intention and determination which lead the human to have illusions from here and there. This type can be treated through Quran as we have mentioned in the aforementioned book. The second is the obsessed one obeys the devil if he is dragged to the devil. In order to get rid of such obsession, one may follow the Religious Authority’s (Marji) opinion, after being certain that the Marji meets all the conditions to be a Marji. If you doubt in the purity or impurity of anything, you may follow the religious jurist (mujtahid). On the other hand, if you doubt in your prayer, you may follow the Marji’s opinion. If you do not do that, you will never get rid of the obsession. Committing to your Marji is the healing remedy to get rid of the obsession. Allah is the all guide.

Then, you may recite some of the Quran chapters, especially those which are mentioned in the books such as Mafateehul Jinan and Al-Iqbal as it is highly recommended to recite.
