Hadith 28-19

حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قاسِم الأسترآبادي رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَني يُوسِف بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيادعَنِ الحَسَن بْنِ عَلِى عَنْ أَبيهِ، عَن مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِى، عَن أَبيهِ عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ، عَن أَبيهِ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَر، عَن آبائِهِ، عَن عَلِيِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ لَمَّا أَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ بِنَعْيِ النَّجَاشِيِّ بَكَى بُكَاءَ حَزِينٍ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخَاكُمْ أَصْحَمَةَ وَهُوَاسْمُ النَّجَاشِيِّ مَاتَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْجَبَّانَةِ وَكَبَّرَ سَبْعاً فَخَفَضَ اللَّهُ لَهُ كُلَّ مُرْتَفِعٍ حَتَّى رَأَى جِنَازَتَهُ وَهُوَبِالْحَبَشَةِ.

Muhammad ibn Al-Qasim al-Isterabadi - may God be pleased with him - quoted on the authority of Yusuf ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Al-Hassan ibn Ali (a.s.), on the authority of his father (a.s.), on the authority of Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.), on the authority of his father Ali ibn Musa Al-Ridha’ (a.s.), on the authority of his father Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.), on the authority of his forefathers, on the authority of Ali (a.s.) that God’s Prophet (S) said, “When Gabriel brought the news of the death of al-Najashi to God’s Prophet (S), the Prophet (S) cried very hard for him and said, “Your brother whose name is al-Najashi has died.” The Prophet (S) then went to the desert and said ‘Allahu Akbar’ seven times. Then God evened out all the hills for him so that the Prophet (S) could see al-Najashi’s corpse in Ethiopia.”
