Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Babawayh al-Qummi (c. 306–381 AH / 918–991 CE), known as Shaykh Saduq, was one of the foremost Shia hadith scholars and jurists of the Buyid era, based in Qum and later Ray. He authored Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih (one of the Four Books) and many other collections, including Uyun Akhbar al-Ridha, a compilation devoted to the words and biography of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (a).
