Hadith 31-120

وَبِهذَا الإِسنادِ قالَ: قالَ عَلِىُّ بْنُ أَبِي طالِبٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ: إِنَّهُ لَوْ رَأى‏ العَبْدُ أَجَلَهُ وَسُرعَتَهُ إِلَيْهِ لأَبغَضَ الأَمَلَ، وَتَرَكَ طَلَبَ الدُّنْيا.

According to the same documentation, Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) said, “If a servant (i.e. a person) could see his death and the speed with which it is approaching him he would hate his aspirations and abandon worldly desires.”
