Hadith 31-135

وَبِهذَا الإِسنادِ عَنْ عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِي طالِبٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قالَ: جاءَ جِبْرَئِيلُ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ إِلَى النَّبِيِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ فَقالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالبَرنِيِّ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرُ تُمُورِكُم يُقَربُّ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيُباعِدُ مِنَ النَّارِ.

According to the same documentation, Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) said, “Gabriel (a.s.) descended to the Prophet (S) and said, I advise you to eat ‘barni’ dates as they are the best type of your dates. That will help you get closer to the Honorable the Exalted God and get more distant from the Fire.”
