Hadith 31-207

حَدَّثَنا أَبي‏ رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّه قالَ: حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبي الخَطَّاب عَنْ عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَسْباط قالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَحْدُثَ عَنْ آبائِهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ أَن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ قالَ: لَمْ يَبْقَ مِن أَمثالِ الأَنْبِياءِ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ إِلاّ قَوْلَ النَّاسِ: إِذا لَمْ تَستَحِي فَاصنَع ما شِئتَ.

(The author of the book narrated) my father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Sa’d ibn Abdullah quoted on the authority of Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abil Khattab, on the authority of Ali ibn Asbat that he had heard Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) quote on the authority of his forefathers (a.s.), on the authority of Ali (a.s.) that God’s Prophet (S) said, “None of the wise sayings of the Prophets have remained except: ‘If you have no shame, then do whatever you wish!’”
