Hadith 31-208

حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَد بْنِ عَلِىِّ بْن إِبراهِيم بْنِ هاشِمٍ‏ رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَني أَبي، عَنْ جَدِّي، عَنْ عَلِىِّ بْنِ مَعبَدٍ، عَنِ الحُسَيْن بْن خالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبي الحَسَن عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَعْفَر بن مُحَمَّد، عَنْ أَبيهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّد، عَنْ أَبيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِى، عَنْ أَبيهِ عَلِىِّ بْنِ الحُسَيْن، عَنْ أَبيهِ الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِى، عَنْ أَبيهِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنين عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِي طالِب‏ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ قالَ: رَسُولَ اللَّهِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ: أَخْبَرنِي جِبْرَئِيل عَن اللَّه عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنَّهُ قالَ: عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِي طالِب حُجَّتِي عَلَى خَلْقِي، ودَيَّانُ دِينِي، اُخْرِجَ مِن صُلْبِهِ أَئِمَّةً يَقُومُونَ بِأَمْرِي وَيَدْعُون إِلى سَبِيلِي، بِهِمْ أَدْفَعُ البَلاءَ عَنْ عِبادي وَإِمائي، وَبِهِمْ أُنْزِلُ مِن رَحمَتي.

Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem - may God be pleased with him - narrated that his father quoted on the authority of his grandfather, on the authority of Ali ibn Ma’bad, on the authority of Al-Husayn ibn Khalid, on the authority of Abil Hassan Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.), on the authority of his father Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.), on the authority of his father Ja’far ibn Muhammad (a.s.), on the authority of his father Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.), on the authority of Ali ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.), on the authority of his father Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.), on the authority of his father the Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) that God’s Prophet (S) said, “Gabriel informed me that the Honorable the Exalted God says, ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib is My Proof for My creatures. He is the maintainer of My religion. Immaculate Leaders will be born from his progeny who will adhere to My rules and invite (the people) to My way. I will fend off calamities from my servants and maids [71] and through them I will descend My Mercy.’”
