Hadith 31-300

وَبِإِسْنادِهِ عَنْ عَلِيِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قالَ: قالَ النَّبِيُ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اطَّلَعَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ [اِطّلاعَةً] فَاخْتارَنِي، ثُمَّ اطَّلَعَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَاخْتارَكَ بَعْدي، فَجَعَلَكَ القَيِّمَ بِأَمْرِ اُمَّتِي من بَعْدي، ولَيْسَ أَحَدٌ بَعْدَنا مِثلَنا.

According to the same documentation on the authority of Ali (a.s.), the Prophet (S) said, “Indeed the Honorable the Exalted God looked upon the people of the Earth once and chose me. Then He took another look and chose you (Ali). He established you in charge of the affairs of my nation after me. There will be no one like us after us.”
