I am in a state of confusion and distress. My elder brother is facing issues with his 16-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter. I also have a 14-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. We live in a small house where it is not always possible for my daughter to remain fully covered. If I mention this to my elder brother, he will become upset and displeased. What should I do?
Answer
In the name of Allah, your daughter must not appear without proper hijab in the presence of your nephew, no matter how difficult it may be for her. My dear son, you must encourage her to observe hijab by sharing with her the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH&HF), the Imams (PBUT), and Quranic verses. The essence of these teachings is that any woman who knowingly exposes a part of her body to a non-mahram will have that part burned in the fire for many years. Be mindful, my son, that your nephew is certainly not present in the house 24 hours a day or for his entire life. Therefore, your daughter, whom I consider as my own granddaughter, can adhere to complete and proper hijab, regardless of how small the house may be. Allah is the Guide.
