A question from a girl who is being treated in psychiatry about prayer because she does not stay praying for a while as she is very suspicious of everything and has compulsive obsessive disorder is very intense according to the doctor to the extent that if she is just to enter the bathroom, she will be excessively tired. Getting a shower, on the other hand, it will be another calamity i.e. she is stressed a lot and more often strained until the blood comes out so it is difficult for her, and she cannot wash out of the menstrual washing because of all this obsession. Previously, her mother used to help her in everything and it is not done without problems, she said that she tired her mother a lot, in that her mother was fed up with her. Recently, she depends on herself to enter the bathroom but as I said earlier she cannot pray because of washing and all this obsessive compulsive disorder and since the menses comes in a few days i.e. less than a month at a time so she cannot wash because of obsessive compulsive disorder and so she misses praying. What should she do, taking into account that the scholars say that the solution is not to pay attention to obsessiveness, but this does not work with her either, they tried a lot not to pay attention, but they ended up in psychiatry and they know that prayer is the pillar of religion, but in her case what should she do?
Answer
In the name of Allah Almighty, Imams (PBUH) advised that one who is afflicted with obsession should abide by the Islamic law and not to turn to obsessiveness. If they are believers, as the question is supposed to be, they must abide by the judgment of the imams (PBUH) and you must know that obsessive is obedience to the devil and not obedience to Allah, the Merciful. Whoever obeys the devil goes to Hell with him. We seek Allah’s refuge from this. Allah is the Guide.
